The Club
The White Rock Tennis Club was originally established in 1924 on one grass court, in 1927 the club moved to a new venue which featured two wood floor courts, in 1937 the White Rock Tennis Club built the area's first hard courts. The club struggled for its survival before, during and after World War II, maintaining its presence on the area's public courts. In 1968 the club was re-established at its North Bluff Road location as a members only facility operating as a non-profit organization in cooperation with the City of White Rock. The White Rock Tennis Club is located off Highway 99, take the 8th Avenue exit (#2) to 168th Street North to 16th Avenue West, the club is located on the south side of 16th Avenue next to the Manning Lawn Bowling club. The Club charges a nominal membership fee and guest players are welcome.
Facility
The White Rock Tennis Club operates year round on three outdoor hardcourts which are lit for evening play, the official club year runs from May 1 to April 30th. There is a clubhouse with washrooms, kitchen and viewing deck. Members can enjoy the use of the club's ball machine.
Programs
Organized and social play includes High Velocity Nights, Ladies Nights, Opening Day fun tournament, Victoria Day fun tournament, Canada Day Red and White tournament, BC Day tournament, White Rock Open Doubles tournament, Edith Webster Memorial tournament, Club tournament (adults and juniors) held annually since 1925. The White Rock Tennis Club fields a variety of Men's and Women's inter-club league teams and participates in the inter-club mixed doubles Beach League. The club holds its Annual General Meeting, Dinner and Dance in October.
